LiquidFuel (80g Drink Mix)

This recipe creates a drink mix similar to Maurten Drink Mix 320. Maurten’s drink mix works really well for me, but its high cost has led me to develop this more affordable DIY alternative using similar ingredients. This recipe is based on publicly available information about Maurten’s product.

How does it work?

According to Maurtens Website:

The sports drink instantly converts to hydrogel in the acidity of the stomach. The hydrogel enables smooth transportation of the drink through the stomach to the intestine where the water, salt, and carbohydrates are released and absorbed, giving you a fast and large supply of energy that your body can tolerate.

I don’t know whether this DIY drink mix creates the same hydrogel effect. I’ve used it successfully during intense exercise, but results may vary between individuals.
